Valve Fixed at Parkview Field
April 21, 2009 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - Amongst the celebration last Thursday night during Opening Day, a small leak developed from a faulty water valve in Parkview Field's Lincoln Financial Event Center located next to the parking garage in right field. The water was shut off to the area and as a precaution the electricity in the area was also shut off, including the elevator that serviced the ballpark's Treetops Rooftop Party Area.
"As a precaution, due to the small amount of water that was in the area, the decision was made to shut the electricity off to safe guard against any possible issues," said Team President, Mike Nutter. "We also felt that even after the valve was fixed, the carpets dried, and the electricity turned back on that it was in the best interests of the team, and the fans that had seats in the TreeTops area, to wait a couple days before opening the area again. There was no immediate concern or danger, but when things are new you want to make sure that you take precautions. We have no doubt that everything is 100% ready to go moving forward with both the Lincoln Financial Event Center and the TreeTops party area."
Fans that did have tickets in the TreeTops over this past weekend were contacted and their date in the TreeTops rescheduled as a precaution. They received a different ticket to the same game and will be enjoying the view, service and food selection of the TreeTops during an upcoming game.
