Sauget, IL- Washington Wild Things first baseman Logan Uxa and Normal CornBelters starting pitcher Charlie Gillies were named Frontier League Players and Pitcher of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation.

Logan Uxa joined the Wild Things in the first week of June as has appeared in 25 games so far.  In five games last week, Logan recorded a .526 batting average including one double, one triple, and two home runs while driving in six, raising his season batting average by 66 points.  The Wild Things won four of these five games to vault to first place in the East Division entering the All-Star Break. 

Prior joining the Wild Things, Logan spent time with both the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles organizations.  Cincinnati drafted Logan in the 32nd round in 2013 out of Arkansas State University, and he played in 43 games between the Arizona League Reds and Bakersfield Blaze of the California League with a .266 batting average.  Logan was selected a Post-Season All-Star in the Arizona League.  In addition, Uxa spent time in the South Atlantic League with the Delmarva Shorebirds in Salisbury, MD. He was released by the Reds before playing in any 2014 games then signed with Baltimore prior to the 2015 season, which he split between the Delmarva Shorebirds of the South Atlantic League and the Frederick Keys of the Carolina League. 

Charlie Gillies earned his honor following a 1-hit shutout of the Gateway Grizzlies on July 6, while earning 7 strikeouts.  The outing was his second in the Frontier League after Charlie began the season with the Trois-Rivieres Aigles of the Can-Am League; he is currently 1-0 for the season in the Frontier League.

Charlie made his professional debut after being selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 10th round of the 2012 draft out of The Master's College in California.  In three years with the Tigers, he advanced as high as the Lakeland Flying Tigers of the Florida State League before splitting the 2015 season between Amarillo of the American Association and Trois-Rivieres.  Before playing in the Frontier League Gillies pitched in the New-York Pennsylvania League, Midwest League, Florida State League, and the Gulf Coast League.

The Frontier League is entering its 24th season in 2016 and features 12 teams stretching from Pennsylvania to Missouri and from Kentucky to Northern Michigan. The Frontier League annually advances the most players to MLB organizations of any of the independent leagues, and 27 former Frontier League players have played in the Major Leagues.
