Utah Blaze News Release

OREM, Utah - Utah Valley defensive back Antar Brame intercepted a Wyoming pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown with 35.7 seconds left in the game Saturday night to lead the Thunder to their 10th win of the year with a 54-44 decision over the Cavalry.

The interception was Brame's sixth of the year. Earlier in the year, Utah Valley's Charlie Hunt had an interception to preserve a victory over the Cavalry.

With the win, the Thunder went 6-1 at home this year, and their only loss was to Wyoming in Week 1. Utah Valley took its first lead since late in the first quarter when back-up quarterback Jason Swanson hit Travis Brown with a 20-yard touchdown pass with 50.5 seconds left in the game to give the Thunder the 47-44 lead. Brame's heroics moments later put the game out of reach.

Swanson finished the game 5-of-10 for 65 yards and a touchdown, while starter Mike Affleck went 16-of-24 for 187 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.

Utah Valley wide receiver Akamu Aki hauled in eight catches for 105 yards, which put him over 1,000 yards for the season. He also had three touchdowns receptions, bringing his season total to 28. Brown tallied seven catches for 67 yards, while running back Sete Aulai had eight carries for 13 yards and two scores.

Wyoming quarterback Matt Strand finished the game by going 13-of-24 for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and back-up Jamar Culver went 7-of-12 for 52 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

The Thunder will close out the regular season Monday, July 6, when they travel to face the New Mexico Wildcats.

Utah Valley will play the Cavalry, who clinched the division title last week, on July 10 in Casper in the opening round of the American Indoor Football Association playoffs. The winner of that contest will host the AIFA championship game at the end of July.
