Utah Secures Win In Fierce Battle

OREM, UT, March 24, 2010 -The Utah Flash (24-21) strengthened their hold on the final playoff spot with a 123-115 victory over the Idaho Stampede (22-23) Wednesday night. The Flash were led by Orien Greene and Bennet Davis who combined for 49 points on the night. The two team rematch in back to back games this upcoming Friday and Saturday.

Utah started off hot out of the gate taking a 28-20 lead in the first quarter. Greene scored 11 of his game-high 26 points in the first period and Utah led by seven at the first quarter break.

The Flash pushed the lead to as many as 11 points in the second quarter, but Idaho battled back led largely by a balanced scoring attack. The Stampede had three players in double figure scoring at the end of the first half.

Things started heating up in the third quarter between the division rivals as five technical fouls were handed out during the second half. Despite a late push by Idaho, Utah held on for the win. Leading Utah was Greene's 26 points followed by Davis' 23 points and 22 from Kevin Kruger. Luke Nevill added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Idaho was led by Donell Taylor who had 27 points and eight rebounds. Andre Barrett added 22 points for the Stampede in the losing effort. Utah and Idaho will rematch again on both Friday and Saturday, with the outcome of both games possibly determining the final playoff spot.
