Utah Flash News Release

PROVO, Utah, August 18, 2009 -Utah Flash Basketball Team president Joe Brown was subdued by a taser early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at an event in Provo where the team was the highlight of KUTV's 2News in the Morning program.

Brown was purposely and carefully attached to a taser gun by Utah County Sheriff's Deputies to give him the experience of being tased. The event was shown on live television by Channel 2 and several amateur videos were later posted on sites like Twitter and Facebook. Brown was not harmed during the experience, and called the shock "incredible."

Part of the morning festivities also included news anchor Casey Scott rappelling from the roof of the four-story Canyon River Corporate office building, and Scott being apprehended by Utah County Search and Rescue dogs.

"Our team always has fun when we get together with the Utah Flash," said Tom Hodgson of the Utah County Sheriff's Office. "Today was definitely not an exception."

Other morning events included a Harley Davidson giveaway, sampling of Maakoa products, and a performance from the Utah Flash Pinnacle Dancers.

"Our season doesn't start for a few months, but we always find a way to keep entertained during the off season," said Brown. "We don't only keep the fun to ourselves though; we try and get everyone involved."

The Flash kick off their season in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 27 before returning to the McKay Events Center December 7 to host the Dakota Wizards. For tickets and information, call (801) 434-HOOP or visit utahflash.com.
