Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

Sioux Falls, SD--The United States Hockey League in association with the Sioux Falls Stampede unveiled the official logo for the 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Sioux Falls, SD.

"We are thrilled to be hosting such a prestigious event," said Stampede CEO/President Tom Garrity. "The logo displays the PREMIER Center, one of the top venues in all of the Midwest, and the famous Falls Park. This event will not only be a great opportunity for the top NHL Draft eligible players to display their incredible skills, but also an opportunity for people from all over the country to tour our great city and see first-hand why Sioux Falls is such a great place to live."

The 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game logo, designed by Red Eye Design, is inspired by the Sioux Falls, SD landscape including the famous Falls Park. The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center also appears in the horizon of the logo.

The two-day event will begin on Monday, January 9th with on-ice and off-ice testing conducted by HockeyTech and NHL Central Scouting. Tuesday, January 10th will feature a skills competition leading up to the main event later that evening. In addition, the Stampede plan to host a Fan Fest leading up to the game as well as a banquet with the players.

2017 marks the third consecutive year the USHL has hosted the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and fifth year all-time. Both Dubuque Fighting Saints and Omaha Lancers hosted near sellout crowds on the weekday event for the skills competition and game, both of which were featured in a 30-minute special on NHL Network.

Prior to this year's contest, a total of 42 players that have been selected to compete in the previous USHL/NHL Top Prospects Games have gone on to be selected in the NHL Draft, including first round selections Kyle Connor (Winnipeg Jets), Brock Boeser (Vancouver Canucks), Mike Matheson (Florida Panthers), Jordan Schmaltz (St. Louis Blues) and Zemgus Girgensons (Buffalo Sabres).

The two-day event will be a part of the Sioux Falls Stampede's third season in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center where the Stampede set another USHL attendance record this past season, drawing over 200,000 fans in 30 games for an average of 6,687 fans per-game, ranking amongst the best in college and minor professional hockey.
