Uno, Dos, Tres: Mustangs Sign Three Warriors from Guadalajara

The Chicago Mustangs today announced the signing of a trio of players from the Guerreros de Guadalajara of the Liga Mexicana de Futbol Rapido.

Miguel Angel Vaca, Jose Omar Santillan, and Ruben Omar Tapia signed contracts to join the Mustangs for their first season in the Professional Arena Soccer League. "We are putting together a team to compete at the highest level of indoor soccer, " said Armando Gamboa, team president. Adding that the complete roster is shaping up and will be available on the Mustangs website, www.chicagomustangspro.com by mid-day Friday.

All three have some experience playing against PASL teams. Guerreros La Raza competed in the North American Championships in 2010 in San Diego and 2011 in Cincinnati against PASL teams.

Vaca was one of the team's leading scorers in those tournaments and spent time with Atlas 3rd Division and University of Guadalajara 2nd Division in Mexico. Vaca also played in two international championships for Mexico's National Futsal team "I have played on many teams," said Vaca, "and I believe that we have a group of players here that can make a push for the finals. I am going to do my best to make sure that happens."

Santillan started his career with Delfines in Mexico's 3rd Division and 2nd Division and spent time with Atlante in 2nd Division and First division at University of Guadalajara. Santillan played with Guerreros of Guadalajara indoor three seasons, winning two sub titles and was called up twice to the National Mexican Indoor Team. "I am excited to play for the Mustangs," said Santillan, "and to grow this team in the PASL and become a dominant force in the US indoor scene."

Tapia spent time with Atlas 2nd Division and also played for Guerreros of Guadalajara for four seasons winning two championships and two sub titles "I am very thankful to the entire Chicago Mustangs staff for this opportunity," said Tapia. "I am prepared to prove why they brought me here."

The Mustangs begin their PASL season this Saturday at 4:30 PM against the Illinois Piasa at Grand Sports Arena in Hoffman Estates. Tickets are $8 and just $4 for children under 12. For more information call (847)805-6633.
