Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN - Two Saint John Sea Dogs have found spots on an important list, NHL's Central Scouting final draft rankings for the upcoming 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The rankings are composed of the top 210 prospects playing hockey in North America.

Stephen Anderson hit the list in the 125th spot. The 18-year-old right-winger was co-winner of the Grant Thornton Rookie of the Year award this season after posting 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points. Anderson, a Charlottetown, PE native, suited up in 63 games for the Dogs this season. In Saint John's 2011-12 season, the 5'11", 195-pound forward played 26 games and had 6 goals, 10 helpers and 16 points.

In the 2012 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, the Sea Dogs used their first pick to select 6'01", 198-pound Jurij Repe. The defenceman from the city of Bled in Slovenia was playing with HC Trinec U20 squad in the Czech Republic in 2011-12 and tallied a goal and 6 helpers.

The 18-year old flew to Saint John in September 2012 and suited up for the Dogs in 38 contests during the 2012-13 season. He scored three times and added eight assists for 11 points in his rookie campaign and his efforts earned him the 205th spot on Central Scouting's rankings.

Both players have experience on the international stage. Anderson laced up with Team Atlantic in the 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and scored a goal. Repe has seen action three times at the Under-18 Division 1 World Junior Hockey Championships, including a stint as Captain in the 2011 tournament. Repe also played in the Under-20 World Junior Hockey Championships in 2012 and 2013.

The Sea Dogs will be back in action for the 2013-2014 season as training camp gets underway in August.
