Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 1, 2010 - River Cats catcher Josh Donaldson and starting pitcher Clayton Mortensen have been selected to represent Sacramento at the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 14 at Coca-Cola Park in Lehigh Valley (Allentown, Pa.), Team and League officials announced today. Fan balloting helped determine the rosters for the All-Star Game, accounting for one-third of the total vote along with ballots cast by members of the media and each club's field manager, coaches and general manager. Additional players were selected by the Pacific Coast League (PCL) Office.
The Triple-A All-Star Game pits the top prospects of the PCL against the best young stars of the International League (IL). This year's game is the 23rd year of the Triple-A tradition. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EDT with the game televised live on MLB Network.
Donaldson, who was acquired by the Oakland organization in a 2008 trade, is currently in his fourth professional season. He is batting .262 with 51 hits (12 doubles, one triple and 10 home runs) and 48 RBIs for the River Cats. Earlier in the season he was called up for the first time in his career, appearing in 10 games with the A's.
Mortensen, who was acquired by the Oakland organization in a 2009 trade, is currently in his fourth professional season. He leads the PCL with 10 wins and is second among River Cats starters with a 3.58 ERA. He also ranks third in the PCL with 77 strikeouts and second with 98.0 innings pitched. Mortensen has started 15 games for the River Cats with a current record of 10-2.
