Two Firebirds Listed in Final NHL Draft Rankings

Flint's Will Bitten and Nicholas Caamano are among the 149 CHL players have been listed by NHL Central Scouting in their Final Rankings for the 2016 NHL Draft which takes place June 24-25 in Buffalo, New York.

Bitten is ranked #43 among North American skaters. Bitten lead the Firebirds this past season with 30 goals and 35 assists, totaling 65 points in 67 games played this season and has earned multi-point nights 16 times. Bitten also competed in 2016 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Vancouver, BC on Thursday Jan. 28.

Second year forward, Nicholas Caamano, is listed #69 by NHL Central Scouting in their Final Rankings for the 2016 NHL Draft. Caamano was fourth on the Firebirds with 20 goals and 17 assists for a total of 37 points in 64 games this season.

The 149 players includes 129 skaters of the 210 ranked by NHL Central Scouting in North America while 20 of the 30 goaltenders ranked are also from the CHL. In total, 62% of all players ranked by NHL Central Scouting are currently competing in the CHL.

21 of the top 30 ranked North American prospects are from the CHL including the top five led by forward Pierre-Luc Dubois of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at number one. Matthew Tkachuk of the London Knights is listed at number two, then Alexander Nylander of the Mississauga Steelheads slots in at number three. Two CHL defencemen round out the top five including Jakob Chychrun of the Sarnia Sting at number four, and Olli Juolevi of the London Knights at number five.

A total of 149 CHL players appeared in the rankings led bytmailc the OHL's 67, followed by 54 from the Western Hockey League, and 28 from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
