Two Blades Prospects Named to Alberta 's U16 Shortlist Roster

Saskatoon, SK - Two Saskatoon Blades prospects were named to Hockey Alberta's under-16 shortlist roster on Monday afternoon for the upcoming 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Forward Colton Dach (Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.) and defenseman Charlie Wright (Olds, Alta) are among Alberta's top 35 players under the age of 16 to make the shortlist. Both Dach and Wright were selected by the Saskatoon Blades in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. Colton Dach followed in his older brother Kirby's path by earning a call in the first round, 6th overall. Charlie Wright was taken by Saskatoon with the 70th overall pick.

Dach is coming off a strong season in bantam after posting 69 points in 30 games with OHA Edmonton of the Canadian Sport School Bantam Prep League. Meanwhile, Charlie Wright added 19 points in 36 games form the backend with Red Deer's bantam AAA Rebels of the Alberta Bantam Hockey League.

Players were selected to the shortlist based on their overall play throughout the Team Alberta scouting process, past Team Alberta programs, and at the U16 Summer Camp in Camrose, July 3-8. Eighty players were invited to Camrose, and worked through high intensity on-ice sessions, as well as off-ice training and classroom sessions.

"This year's Summer Camp in Camrose showcased just how many talented athletes we have in Alberta," said Mike Kraichy, Manager of Team Alberta. "Now, as we move towards the Canada Winter Games, these 35 players are now one step closer to representing their home province in Red Deer."

The shortlisted players will be scouted with their club teams in the fall, prior to final decisions on the 20 players selected to the Team Alberta roster. The 2019 Canada Winter Games run February 15th - March 3rd in Red Deer, Alberta.
