Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today that two players have been added to their roster as they head to Alaska for a three-game set. Forward Ray Kaunisto has been re-assigned to Colorado from their American Hockey League affiliate, the St. John's IceCaps, and the Eagles have also signed forward Devin DiDiomete (pronounced: dee-dee-oh-meet-ee), a former draft pick of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames, who has played 231 professional games, 173 of which have come at the AHL level.

Kaunisto has played 19 games this season for the Eagles, recording nine points (3-6-9) and 29 penalty minutes. He tallied four of those points in the game prior to his call-up, including assisting on all three goals of Chad Costello's ECHL record-tying shorthanded hat trick. Kaunisto appeared in one game with the IceCaps since his recall.

DiDiomete is a 5-foot-11-inch, 200-pound winger, who has played 58 games in the ECHL, most of which (41) came last season with the Chicago Express. In 43 ECHL games last season (the other two with the Wheeling Nailers), he registered a league-leading 281 penalty minutes -- an average of 6.5/game. However, DiDiomete is more than just a penalty producer; he's tallied 54 points as a pro, including 24 goals and 30 assists. He registered 29 of those points (12-17-29) last season in the ECHL.

DiDiomete spent the entire 2010-11 season in the American Hockey League with the Connecticut Whale and finished 3rd in the league with 303 PIMs. He started this season with the Cardiff Devils of the EIHL, accumulating 169 PIMs through 25 games, the 2nd-highest total in the league. He's averaged over seven penalty minutes/game in his ECHL career.
