Twins Add Four on Minor League Deals

ROCHESTER, NY - The Minnesota Twins signed OF Darin Mastroianni, SS Wilfredo Tovar, LHP Buddy Boshers and RHP Brandon Kintzler to minor league contracts Monday.

Additionally, the Twins will announce Spring Training invites on Thursday, December 17.

Mastroianni, 30, appeared in 114 major league games with Minnesota and 39 with the Red Wings from 2012-14. He spent all of 2015 in the International League with Lehigh Valley and Syracuse, combining to hit .257/.308/.345 in 112 games with 25 stolen bases in 29 attempts.

Tovar, 24, signed with the Mets as a 16-year-old shortstop in 2007 and played in the organization through 2015. He hit .283/.327/.356 in 102 games with 30 stolen bases in 43 attempts last season for Triple-A Las Vegas. Tovar has appeared in nine major league games with the Mets, going 3-for-18.

Boshers, 27, is a former fourth-round pick by the Angels in 2008. He was 3-1 with one save and a 1.00 ERA (6 ER, 54.0 IP) in 52 games with Somerset of the Independent Atlantic League in 2015. Boshers signed with Colorado prior to last season but was released during Spring Training. The left-hander appeared in 25 major league games in 2013 with the Angels, pitching to a 4.70 ERA (8 ER, 15.1 IP). He was a high school teammate of Craig Kimbrel at Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama.

Kintzler, 31, has appeared in at least seven major league games in each of the past six seasons, including 135 from 2013-14. Kintzler was originally drafted in the 40th round by San Diego in 2004 but was released in April of 2006. After pitching two seasons with Winnipeg of the Independent Northern League and part of the next with St. Paul of the Independent American Association, he was signed by Milwaukee on July 24, 2009. He has a career 2.90 ERA (76 ER, 236.0 IP) in 171 minor league games and a 3.38 mark (68 ER, 181.0 IP) in 171 major league contests.
