Tulsa's Balanced Scoring Leads To 142-125 Win

HIDALGO, Texas - Seven Tulsa players scored over 11 points as the Tulsa 66ers defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 142-125, on Saturday night at State Farm Arena. Tulsa, who topped Rio Grande Valley 144-120 on Friday, completed the weekend sweep and improved to 3-0 since coming back from last weekend's All-Star break.

Andre Roberson, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds, two assists, four steals and three blocks.

Four 66ers scored over 20 points, led by double-double performances from Rodney Bartholomew (24 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks) and Mustafa Shakur (22 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and two steals). Grant Jerrett and Mario Little each posted 22 points and six rebounds.

Maurice Sutton scored 12 points off the bench with six rebounds and four blocks. As a team, Tulsa recorded a season-high-tying 10 blocked shots.

Tulsa shot over 59 percent from the field for the second night in a row, shooting 55-for-92 (59.7 percent).

The 66ers controlled the paint throughout the game, outscoring Rio Grande Valley 80-36 in the paint and outrebounding the Vipers 51-41. Tulsa scored 30 points off of 19 forced turnovers.

Tulsa played aggressive on offense and drove to the lane to take go up 37-33 in the first quarter. Rio Grande Valley then used a 12-2 run in the heart of the second to outscore Tulsa 36-31 and take a 69-68 lead to halftime.

Bartholomew scored 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting in the third to help Tulsa re-take the lead and take a 105-99 advantage into the fourth quarter. The 66ers opened up the fourth with a 19-5 run in the first five minutes to increase their lead to 20. Tulsa held off Rio Grande Valley by shooting 60.0 percent from the field in the final quarter while holding the Vipers to 34.8 percent.

The Vipers were led by Robert Covington with 45 points and 11 boards.

After starting the season 0-8 on the road, the 66ers have won eight of their last 12 road contests. Tulsa continues its four-game road stretch on Wednesday night against the Texas Legends in Frisco, Texas.
