Tulsa Takes Down Canton

The Canton Charge dropped the second leg of their weekend road set with a 99-91 loss to the Tulsa 66ers at the SpiritBank Event Center on Saturday night. The loss puts Canton at 6-7 on the year, while Tulsa extends their Central Division-leading record to 8-3.
Canton started the game with the hot hand offensively, shooting 60% in the first quarter by hitting 12-of-20 attempts and taking a 29-19 lead. Tulsa bounced back with a 7-0 run in the first 4:03 of the second quarter to pull within three points. The Charge fought throughout to build a 10-point lead with 1:58 left in the half, but the 66ers closed on a 6-0 run to pull within four at 46-42 at the intermission.
The 66ers offense exploded in the third quarter, hitting 14-of-19 shots for 74% from the field and outscoring Canton 36-18 for a 78-64 lead. Tulsa maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the final period, but the Charge found life late when Antoine Agudio hit three-pointers on three consecutive possessions to cut the deficit to 93-91 with 1:02 left. Canton couldn't find the bottom of the net on their last three possessions however, and the 66ers converted their last six free throw attempts to put the game away.
All five Canton starters scored in double figures, led by Agudio's 20 points with two rebounds and one steal in 43 minutes. Arinze Onuaku scored 12 points with six rebounds, three assists and one steal in 26 minutes. Micheal Eric added eight points, nine rebounds and one block in 27 minutes off the bench. Jorge Gutierrez had 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 27 minutes. Canton was outrebounded 39-31 tonight after coming into the game averaging 50.0 boards per game, good for third-best in the D-League.
On assignment from Oklahoma City, Reggie Jackson was nearly unstoppable as he posted 37 points on 14-of-19 shooting with nine rebounds and five assists in 38 minutes. Dominique Sutton contributed 18 points, five rebounds and a steal in 24 minutes off the bench. Perry Jones had eight points, four rebounds and two blocks in 38 minutes. Andy Rautins supplied 13 points, four rebounds and two steals in 34 minutes. Both teams shot 50% from the floor for the game, each hitting 36-of-72 shots.
Canton will return home for a three-game home stand, starting with a matchup against the Austin Toros on Wednesday, December 26th at 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial Civic Center.
