Tulsa 66ers News Release
RENO, Nev., January 8, 2013 - The Tulsa 66ers opened up their 2013 NBA D-League Showcase schedule with a 105-93 win over the Maine Red Claws behind strong performances from their trio of Oklahoma City Thunder assignment players.
Daniel Orton led the 66ers with 25 points, five steals, four rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Jeremy Lamb posted 18 points, seven assists, and five rebounds while Perry Jones collected 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Hollis Thompson recorded 21 points while shooting 10-for-13 from the field with 14 rebounds and three steals.
The win, which snapped a four-game losing streak, showed numerous forms of improvement for Tulsa. After going 30-for-79 (.380) from the field in a 116-80 loss to the Texas Legends on Saturday night, Tulsa bounced back on Tuesday by shooting 39-for-75 (.520).
The 66ers displayed a bigger presence down low, outrebounding the Red Claws 41-35. After being outscored in the paint for four-straight games, Tulsa posted 56 paint points to Maine's 36.
"Our team went back to our true values today," said Tulsa Head Coach Darko Rajakovic. "We showed good defense, playing together, sharing the ball and showing a high level of intensity on defense and offense. That's something that we're working on every day and something we will continue to develop."
Tulsa (10-8) dished out 22 assists and forced 22 Maine turnovers, including 13 off of steals.
The Red Claws (10-8) were led by DaJuan Summers with 31 points and five boards.
The NBA D-League Showcase is hosted by the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev. and provides all 16 teams an opportunity to play two games in front of scouts and front office personnel from every NBA team.
Tulsa is back in action for its second game of the Showcase on Thursday at noon against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The game will be broadcasted live on NBA TV.
Additionally, a pair of 66ers will compete in Showcase events on Wednesday night with Andy Rautins participating in the 3-Point Shootout and Dominique Sutton partaking in the Slam Dunk Competition. Both events will be shown on tape delay on CBS Sports Network.
