Tucker to Compete in D-League Showcase Dunk Contest

South Padre Island, TX - The NBA Development League announced today that New Mexico Thunderbirds guard Dar Tucker will be among four participants in the first NBA Development League Showcase Slam Dunk Competition on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 10:30 MT.

Tucker won the 2010 NBA Development League Slam Dunk Contest at the All Star game by scoring a perfect 200 points on his four dunks. In the finals he threw down a double-pump reverse jam and then won the competition by dunking over seven-foot center, Brian Butch.

The Slam Dunk Contest will be a two-round competition. The four players may complete two dunks in each round, with five judges each awarding between five and 10 points for every made dunk. The two dunkers with the highest composite score after the first round advance to the final round. The player with the highest composite score after the final round wins.

Tucker will be competing against Marqus Blakely (Bakersfield Jam), Chris Johnson (Dakota Wizards), and L.D. Williams (Springfield Armor).

The competition will air on VERSUS on Jan. 15 and Jan. 29.
