Trio of Seahawks win Player of the Week prizes

May 2, 2006 - National Football League Europa (NFLE) News Release

THREE members of the Seattle Seahawks have been named NFL Europe League Players of Week 7.

Amsterdam Admirals quarterback GIBRAN HAMDAN (Seattle Seahawks) picked up his third Offensive Player of the Week prize in 2006 while compiling a passer rating of 100+ for the fifth game in a row. The third-year quarterback completed 25 of 35 attempts for 322 yards and 1 touchdown for a rating of 109.5.

The prize comes as small consolation for Hamdan, who suffered a broken ankle during the 18-17 come-from-behind victory over the Hamburg Sea Devils, meaning he will miss the rest of the season with the league-leading Admirals. He had his 2005 campaign cut short with a shoulder injury as Amsterdam went on to win the World Bowl.

Hamdan has set a new NFLEL single season record with a passer rating of 113.4, surpassing the old mark of 107.3 set by Kevin Daft, of the Scottish Claymores, in 2000. He ends his campaign having completed 102 of 162 passes for 1,629 yards, 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Frankfurt Galaxy safety BRANDON HAW (Seattle Seahawks) was named Defensive Player of the Week after grabbing a league record-tying 3 interceptions for 43 yards during his team's 17-10 defeat of the Cologne Centurions on Sunday.

Haw ended the game with 5 passes defended and has season figures of 15 tackles, 5 passes knocked down, 3 interceptions and 1 forced fumble.

Haw said: "I just try to make plays and it felt great to help the team out against Cologne."

Admirals kicker RYAN KILLEEN (Seattle Seahawks) was named Special Teams Player of the Week after he landed 4 field goals, including the game-winner from 34 yards out with 12 seconds remaining, to lead Amsterdam past the Sea Devils.

Killeen's other field goals came from 22, 28 and 45 yards out. He now leads all NFLEL kickers with 56 points having converted 11 of 14 field goals and 23 of 23 PATs.

Admirals head coach BART ANDRUS said: "I am full of praise for Ryan Killeen. To kick a winning field goal under pressure like that was great."

Killeen added: "I hit it and it was going straight down the pipe. It was not moving left or right so I knew I had made it. I was excited - I just took off running because I didn't know what to do."

Rookie English running back JERMAINE ALLEN was named National Player of the Week for his efforts during a losing cause with the Hamburg Sea Devils.

Allen rushed for 37 yards on 7 carries and added 3 receptions for 33 yards in the first extensive action of his NFL Europe League career.
