Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Left-hander Shane Youman allowed just one run over seven innings, while first baseman Yurendell de Caster belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh as Indianapolis downed Toledo, 4-2, Monday evening at victory Field.

Youman (7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) picked up the win in his first career Triple-A start. The 26-year-old was promoted from Double-A Altoona (Pa.), where he led the Eastern League with a 1.51 ERA.

The Indians, who snap a three-game skid, improve to 59-48 on the season. Indianapolis continues to lead the International League's West Division over second-place Louisville. The Mud Hens fall to 57-53 overall.

Indianapolis plated three runs in the seventh to break a 1-1 deadlock. RF Raul Gonzalez led off with a double and advanced on a sacrifice bunt before crossing the dish on a fielding error by the Toledo third baseman. De Caster followed with his 11th long ball of the campaign -- a 378-foot shot over the left-field wall.

Tribe RHP Jonah Bayliss (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER 1 SO) recorded his team-leading 16th save of the season.

Toledo LHP Corey Hamman (6.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 0 SO) took the loss, falling to 2-5.

The Indians cracked the scoreboard in the second when 3B Chris Truby launched his fourth homer of the year -- a solo shot to left.

The Mud Hens knotted the contest in the fourth on 3B Mike Hessman's RBI single.

CF Rajai Davis recorded two hits for the Indians, extending his hitting streak to 13 games. RF Alexis Gomez turned in a 2-for-4 performance for the visitors.

The teams return to Victory Field Tuesday night at 7 p.m., for game two of the three-game set. RHP Britt Reames is scheduled to start for Indianapolis, while RHP Colby Lewis is expected to get the nod for Toledo.

Ben Holden and Geoff Zahn will have the play-by-play on TV (Comcast Local), while Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley are set to call all the action on radio and internet (ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com).
