Tri-City Storm Falls Short at Sioux City, 3-2

Sioux City, Ia. - Despite firing 11 shots on goal in the third period, the Tri-City Storm failed to overcome a two-goal deficit and fell, 3-2, to the Sioux City Musketeers Saturday at the Tyson Events Center.
With 1:00 left, the Storm jammed away on a net-front chance with its netminder Eric Dop pulled. The net was bopped off its moorings and ruled no goal on the ice. After a video review, officials upheld the call, determining the puck did not completely cross the goal line. Tri-City could not score in the final seconds.
With 7:29 left, Danny DiGrande pulled the Storm within a goal, 3-2, after scoring his second of the season. Charlie Kelleher also tallied for Tri-City.
The Storm's penalty kill went 3-for-3, the fourth straight perfect effort. Tri-City has killed off 21 straight power plays.
Matiss Kivlenieks made 25 saves to earn his league-best 10th victory. Dop made 26 saves in defeat.
After the Storm allowed a goal to Brian Rigali at 5:18 of the first, Sioux City's Micah Miller was called for a slashing off the ensuing face-off. Tri-City's power play immediately pounced. Forty-two seconds after the opening goal, Kelleher fired a slot shot and beat Kivlenieks to the glove side. Wyatt Bongiovanni and Paul Washe had assists.
Kelleher ranks second on the Storm with 11 points, four behind Tri-City's Alex Limoges for the club lead. Limoges went pointless tonight, snapping a career-best nine-game streak.
The Storm's man up has scored in nine of its last ten games. Tri-City finished 1-for-6 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. With five minutes left in the first, CJ Dodero gave the Musketeers the lead, 2-1, by fitting the puck in past Dop at the left post. Initially shot wide left by former Storm defenseman Carson Vance, the puck trickled to Dodero.
The Musketeers' leading scorer Eeli Tolvanen (17 points) got on the scoresheet with 7:18 left in the second, giving Sioux City insurance, 3-1. After Tolvanen attemped two shots, both blocked, he flipped a pass to the high slot and Matt Hellickson beat Dop with a shot to the right pocket.
DiGrande sniped an unassisted goal with 7:29 left to move the Storm within a goal.

Tri-City is home on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 vs. Youngstown.
