Tri-City Storm Comes Back to Erase Stars, 4-3

Kearney, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm scored two goals in the third period to come back and nudge the Lincoln Stars, 4-3, Saturday at the Viaero Center.
With the Storm (4-4-0-1) down a goal, Tri-City's leading scorer Alex Limoges (5g, 5a) tallied to tie the game five minutes into the third. Six minutes later, Lincoln (4-4-0-0) attempted to clear the puck from in front of its net, but the puck struck Bryan Yoon and went in for a power-play marker, giving Yoon his first USHL goal.
Philip Alftberg scored the first two goals of his USHL career in less than two minutes during the first.
Tri-City allowed three straight goals to the Stars before the third period comeback. Dayton Rasmussen earned his fourth victory of the season with 24 saves. Cayden Primeau took the loss with 27 stops.
The Storm has a 13-day break before returning to action at Fargo on October 28, its longest fall bye since October 2002.

Limoges' goal at 5:19 of the third ended a three-goal Stars run and tied the game at three. Less than ten seconds after Tri-City's power play expired, Wyatt Bongiovanni shot the puck off of Primeau's right leg. With the rebound loose, Limoges snapped it in for his team-best fifth of the season, assisted by Bongiovanni and Paul Washe. The second-year forward leads Tri-City with ten points.
Six minutes later, the Storm's power play notched its second goal. At 11:37 of the third, a Lincoln penalty killer knocked the puck off Yoon and it trickled by Primeau. The unassisted tally gave Tri-City an edge it would not surrender.
The Storm's power play finished 2-for-8, the fifth straight game Tri-City has tallied on the man up (9-for-24, 37.5%). This is the first time the Storm has tallied power-play goals in five straight contests under Muckalt.
Alftberg scored the first two goals of the game in a 1:48 span to place the Storm up a pair. On the power play, Charlie Kelleher and Linus Weissbach played catch while Alftberg readied at the point. Straightaway, Alftberg wound up and slapped the puck in on a feed from Weissbach at 7:35.
Limoges and Monte Graham teamed up for Alftberg's second goal and seventh point, both best for a Tri-City defenseman. The two forwards whacked the puck at the right post before a tap from Alftberg solved Primeau.
Alftberg is a first-year defenseman from Märsta, Sweden. Drafted in the ninth round of the 2016 Phase II Draft, this is his first season in North America. Alftberg and Limoges lead the Storm with three multi-point games.
Mike Gillespie scored from the left circle on a face-off with 2:15 left in the first, pulling Lincoln within a goal at intermission. In the second, Lincoln's Justin Richards scored on a partial breakaway at 5:50. Next, at 10:15, Ethen Frank slung a shot in from the left circle on the power play to give the Stars the edge.

The Storm enjoys a 13-day break and travels to play the Fargo Force on Friday, October 28 at 7:05 p.m. The Storm and Force meet on Saturday, October 29 as well.
