TREVOR KENNEDY JOINS SHARKS RECEIVING CORE

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that Wide Receiver Trevor Kennedy signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for his third season of arena football and first with the Sharks.

Kennedy (6'0", 205) spent the 2017 season with the Spokane Empire where he played in 11 games, catching 30 passes for 316 yards and five touchdowns. Kennedy served as a duo threat rushing 73 times for 362 yards and nine touchdowns averaging 4.1 yards per rush. On special teams, Kennedy served as Spokane's kick returner during the 2017 season, where he led the team with 31 kick returns for 577 yards and one touchdown. In 2016, Trevor Kennedy was awarded IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, despite missing his first three games due to injury. The Spokane rookie was the league leader with 720 rushing yards, 27 rushing touchdowns and 237 points scored. He also finished the year with 1,613 all-purpose yards. His 27 rushing touchdowns was the most by any player in the IFL since 2012.

Prior to the IFL, Kennedy signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL in 2015 but was released early in the season. Kennedy also participated in training camp for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers.

Kennedy spent his college career at Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania. During his time at Mercyhurst, he earned 2010 Super Region First Team honors, 2010 PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year, All-PSAC West First Team and 2010 PSAC Championship Game MVP. The Mercyhurst star finished his college career with 194 receiving yards, 2,758 receiving yards, 4,249 all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns. In 2011, he was the Division II leader for receiving yards per game (126.3 per game). Kennedy set single-season records at Mercyhurst for receptions (88), receiving yards (1,389), receiving touchdowns (15), and all-purpose yards (2,323).

Kennedy is a native of Akron, Ohio where he played quarterback at Firestone High School. During his high school career, he was All-City Player of the Year and First Team All-District his senior year. He was also named Honorable Mention All-State. Kennedy led his team with 1,800 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, 11 rushing touchdowns, while also playing basketball and soccer at Firestone High School.
