Travelers Invest in Fan Safety for the 2017 Baseball Season

February 25, 2017 - Texas League (TL1)
Arkansas Travelers News Release

Little Rock, AR - Since Dickey-Stephens Park opened in 2007 the Arkansas Travelers have provided family affordable fun with top notch amenities. For the 2017 season, the Travelers are making a big investment in the park to ensure that fans will continue to experience all that Dickey-Stephens Park has to offer in the safest environment possible.

Major League Baseball recently issued a recommendation that encouraged teams to extend their backstop netting to ensure that all seats beyond the coverage of the net be at least 70 feet from home plate. The Travelers organization decided to join many Major League and Minor League teams including the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Tulsa Drillers, Corpus Christi Hooks, Springfield Cardinals, Northwest Arkansas Naturals and many others in extending the Dickey-Stephens Park backstop netting to the ends of the dugouts, ensuring a safer viewing experience for Traveler Fans. This change is currently underway and will be in place for the start of the 2017 season.

The Travelers have teamed up with Promats Athletics to erect the new expanded safety netting. Promats has extended the netting at Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, ONEOK Field (Tulsa Drillers), and Hammons Field (Springfield Cardinals) to name a few, so Dickey-Stephens Park and Travs fans are in great hands.

The new net is an exclusive product to Promats Athletics, UltraCross Knotless Safety Netting with Dyneema is 50+% thinner than the previous net, actually enhancing the viewing experience for fans that already sit in Box Seat Sections 107 through 112 and Reserved Seat Sections 207 through 212. With the new extension, the backstop will now provide protection for Box Seat Sections from 105 through 114 and Reserved Seat Sections 205 through 214.

"The safety of our fans is paramount." said Arkansas Travelers General Manager, Paul Allen. "We want to ensure that fans feel safe while watching the action on the field while still being able to relax in the social environment of Dickey-Stephens Park."

Opening day for the Travs is on Thursday, April 6th against the Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros) at Dickey-Stephens Park. To inquire about Season Ticket packages, the full schedule of games and promotional highlights visit www.travs.com or call 501-664-1555.
