MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats have acquired Louis-Philip Fortin from the Shawinigan Cataractes in exchange for a 2nd round pick in the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Defenceman Louis-Philip was originally drafted by the Québec Remparts 87th overall in the 2014 draft before playing with the Shawinigan Cataractes. Following his draft year he continued to play in the QMAAA with the Magog Cantonniers, recording 24 points in 40 games, during that season he was also called up by Shawinigan appearing in 6 games for them.

Over the past year and a half he has played 73 games with Shawinigan recording 16 points. The 18-year-old Sherbrooke Quebec, native is expected to join the lineup on Friday when the Wildcats visit the Halifax Mooseheads at Scotiabank Centre.

"Louis-Philip is a unique defenceman who has proven he has a good future in the league, said Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon. He was on a very talented team the past two seasons and has not received the ice time needed for his development. We are very excited to add Fortin to the lineup as we continue the process of building a championship hockey club."
