Toys for Tots at Sullivan Arena this weekend

The Alaska Aces and "Toys For Tots" will be hosting a Teddy Bear Toss during the Friday & Saturday, November 16th & 17th games. After the Aces first goal of the night, fans will be able to throw new plush unwrapped toys on ice to be collected by the U.S. Marines.
Other unwrapped toys can be dropped into one of the Marines "Toys For Tots" donation boxes at the doors. All toys collected will be given to local families within the Anchorage area.
In 2006, "Toys for Tots" distributed 28,000 toys to families in Anchorage, the valley and outlying villages as well as churches and organizations. Thousands of Alaskan kids depend on the Marine Corps working with the community to provide toys Christmas morning.
The Alaska Aces are just one of approximately 100 businesses that donate or contribute in someway to making the "Toy for Tots" program a successful one.
Collecting and delivering the toys is accomplished by only a handful of Marines. Twelve active duty staff and a reserve company of close to 40 Marines make this distribution happen every year.
"We insert 2 teams in the field in Galena and McGrath, they cover more than 600 miles annually on snow machines delivering toys to surrounding villages. While those teams are in the field the Marines in the rear continue to collect and sort toy donations in preparation for local distribution. We also assist traveling in a Marine Corps C130 Cargo Plane delivering toys to other remote communities. Every year the Aces are one of our top contributors," stated GYSGT Jason Milbery of the U.S. Marines.
The Aces will meet the Fresno Falcons Wednesday, November 14th and Friday & Saturday, November 16th & 17th at 7:15 PM.
