Tourists Break Tie in Fifth, Win 2-1

The Asheville Tourists broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the fifth inning and went on to a 2-1 win over the Lexington Legends in front of 7,634 fans Saturday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Asheville starter Trey Killian struck out 10 batters in the first five innings, and relievers Salvador Justo, Ben Bowden, Sam Thoele and Alexander Guillen each pitched one scoreless inning to preserve the lead. The Legends stranded 10 baserunners in the game.

The Tourists took the lead in the third inning when Terry McClure led off with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Herrera and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brian Mundell.

The Legends evened the score in the fourth. Amalani Fukofuka led off with a single. He was sacrificed to second by Marten Gasparini. Ben Johnson's two-out single scored Fukofuka with the tying run.

In the top of the fifth, Brendan Rodgers drew a walk with one out. After Mundell flied out, Rodgers moved to second on a wild pitch and came home with the game's final run on a single by Yonathan Daza.

Killian (7-4) got the win. He allowed six hits and one run and walked two batters. The Legends had one hit in the final four innings, a single by Xavier Fernandez in the eighth. Guillen pitched the ninth and recorded his fifth save.

Emilio Ogando (5-9), who pitched the first six innings for Lexington, was the losing pitcher. He allowed five hits and two runs, walked three batters and struck out six.

The four-game series is even at one win apiece and continues Sunday. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
