Tourists Add Two Players; Two Placed On Disabled List

April 23, 2010 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Asheville Tourists News Release

The Asheville Tourists placed infielder Joey Wong and first baseman Michael Zaunich on the disabled list Friday. Wong, who has three hits in five trips to the plate this season, is battling a right hamstring injury. Zaunich, who has a .382 batting average with a home run and 10 RBIs, is suffering from an ailing wrist.

Taking their places on the Asheville roster are infielder Joseph Scott and pitcher Alan Deratt, both of whom have been in extended spring training in Tucson. Scott was the Rockies' 42nd-round draft pick in 2009 out of Cal State Fullerton who played last season at Rookie-level Casper and short-season Class A Tri-City. Deratt is a product of UNC Asheville prior to pitching last season with the Tourists, where he made 36 appearances, including eight starts. Both players are joining the team on Friday, bringing the roster to 25 players.

The Tourists return home to McCormick Field on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. to face the Augusta Greenjackets in the first game of a four-game series. Asheville will host the Delmarva Shorebirds, beginning on Wednesday, April 28, as part of the eight-game homestand. For more information, contact the Tourists' front office at (828) 258-0428.
