Oshawa Generals News Release

Oshawa, Ontario - The Generals couldn't hold on to a third period lead at the General Motors Centre on Sunday night; they fell 5-3 to the Mississauga Steelheads before a crowd of 4,095. The Steelheads scored three, unanswered, third-period goals to solidify the win. Boone Jenner scored twice, receiving first-star honours in a losing effort.

The Generals briefly trailed in the first, before scoring twice for a 2-1 lead.

Daniel Altshuller started for Oshawa, and made a beautiful kick-save on Kristoff Kontos straight out of the gate.

The Steelheads kept coming, and at 2:49, Josh Burnside tallied his 6th, steering the puck past Altshuller for a 1-0 Mississauga lead.

Oshawa's fortunes changed at 6:56. Taking advantage of a generous backboard bounce, Trevor Morbeck potted his first goal as a General, beating Steelheads' goaltender, Tyson Teichmann, from inside the slot.

Boone Jenner broke the deadlock with less than a minute remaining in the frame. Operating from the goal line, Oshawa's captain banked his 19th off Teichmann and in, giving the Generals a 2-1 edge.

Both teams exchanged power-play goals in the middle frame, giving the Generals a 3-2 advantage.

Mississauga struck at 6:23, with Sharks' draft-pick, Dylan DeMelo, threading his 7th through traffic from the point.

The Generals recaptured the lead at 14:57 courtesy of their captain, who buried his second of the night. Working with the man advantage, Scott Laughton set the table for Jenner, who ripped his 20th, a rocket that beat Teichmann far-side.

In the final frame, Oshawa's lead evaporated at lightning speed. Just 37 seconds in, Dylan Smoskowitz netted his 16th, finding an opening created by rapid puck movement at the point.

Tied at 3, the Steelheads became frontrunners when Burnside scored his second of the night- a backhand from point-blank range at 12:42.

The Generals appeared to tie it with 7 minutes left, but the goal was immediately waved off due to goaltender interference.

Erasing all doubt, Mississauga put the game on ice, as Andrew Goldberg roofed a rebound at 17:21.

The final buzzer sounded a 5-3 Steelheads victory.

Oshawa outshot Mississauga, 34-27.

Tyler Biggs was named the hardest working player of the game.

Boone Jenner was named the game's first star for his 2-goal effort.

Oshawa's home-stand continues this Friday November 23rd when the Generals take on the division-rival Ottawa 67's at the General Motors Centre. Game goes at 7:35 PM. See you there.
