Rome Emperors News Release

Rome, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Rome Braves 9-2 Sunday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 1,935.

The GreenJackets got on the scoreboard with three runs in the fourth inning. Kevin Beltren had a run scoring single, Tyler Brown coaxed a based load walk, and the third run of the inning scored on a wild pitch for the 3-0 score. Three more runs crossed the plate in the fifth highlighted by Betre's (1) three run homer giving Augusta a 6-0 cushion.

Rome scratched the board in the sixth on Austin Riley's RBI double making it a 6-1 game but that is as close as Rome would get. Augusta added three more runs in the eighth inning and Rome scored a run in the bottom of the inning for the 9-2 final.

Grant Watson (1-0) earns his first win of the season while Rome starter Ricardo Sanchez (0-1) is hit with the loss.

The Braves and Columbia Fireflies play tomorrow at 7pm. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
