Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. - In the final game of a ten day homestand, the Fort Myers Miracle (13-15) were shutout by the Daytona Tortugas (15-13) on Thursday night, 7-0. RHP Jesus Reyes (W, 3-0) recorded 16 ground ball outs in 7.2 innings for Daytona.
The Miracle had an opportunity to strike first in a scoreless game in the third. Three consecutive infield singles loaded the bases with one out for Max Murphy. Reyes induced a ground ball to third starting an inning-ending double play to keep the game scoreless.
In the next half inning, the Tortugas struck for three runs on four hits against starter RHP Keaton Steele (L, 1-4). Chadwick Tromp drove in the first run of the game with a line drive single, scoring Reydel Medina. Three batters later, Chris Okey lined a two-out single to center, bringing in Tromp and Narciso Crook.
Daytona added on two more in the sixth with a two-run home run from Crook to left. RBI-singles from Gavin LaValley and Tromp in the ninth provided the 7-0 final.
The Miracle head to St. Lucie for the first time in 2017 with LHP Lachlan Wells taking the mound. First pitch against the Mets is set for 6:30 PM ET. The game can be heard on Miraclebaseball.com as well as MiLB.com.
