Montgomery Biscuits News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Alex Torres two-hit the Huntsville Stars (62-66) over six scoreless innings, and the Biscuits (65-61) grabbed their league-best 13th shutout by a final of 7-0 at Joe Davis Stadium on Tuesday night.

Torres (10-6) earned his first win in over a month, striking out seven and walking four. Justin Dowdy and Matt Gorgen pitched three scoreless relief innings to push the bullpen's scoreless-streak to 20.1 innings.

The Biscuits got on the board with two in the fourth, getting an RBI single from Henry Wrigley and an RBI groundout from Drew Anderson. They'd pour in four more in the sixth with Anderson doubling home a run and Mike Folli connecting for his first homer as a Biscuit, a three-run shot to make it 6-0.

A Matt Spring eighth inning double scored Anderson to complete the scoring.

Huntsville starter Michael Bowman (9-11) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. The Biscuits got single runs against both Eddie Morlan and Robert Hinton.

Anderson, John Matulia, and Rashad Eldridge each collected two hits to pace a ten-hit Biscuits effort.

Now 4.5 games out of the wild card with 12 to play, the Biscuits will search for the series sweep on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 with RHP Alex Cobb opposing Huntsville RHP Mark Rogers.
