Toros Move Into First Place

TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros closed out their three game series with the Edmonton Capitals with a 12-5 win, and sweep, at Hi Corbett field, Sunday night. With the win the Toros' move into first place in the South Division and their second half record improves to 11-5, 28-26 overall.

Jason Jacome got the start for the Toros and he improved to 4-2 with the win. The veteran lefty threw six innings where he gave up four runs on ten hits.

Brian Daly, Toby Nordman and Jason Hanna all made appearances out of the Toros' pen, where they combined to throw the final three innings. As a bullpen they gave up one run, on two hits, and they struck out two Capitals.

Lino Garcia led the way for the home team at the plate as he went 4-5, scored three runs and drove in two RBI. Ryan Priddy also had a great day for the Toros' offense as he reached base in all five plate appearances as he went 3-3, reached on a walk and a hit by pitch.

Mayobanex Santana and Andre Marshall had the Toros' only extra base hits as Santana went 3-5 with a double and Marshall went 1-5 with a three-run homer in the sixth.

The Toros will take Monday off then return to action on Tuesday night as they open a three game series with the St. George Roadrunners. Opening pitch at Hi Corbett field is set for 7:00 pm, with gates open at 6:00 pm.
