Toros Bounce Back From Lossx

AUSTIN, Texas Dec. 1- The Austin Toros and Tulsa 66ers faced off in their first meeting of the season at the Austin Convention Center, with the Toros winning in a convincing 97-77 victory.

"This is as hard as our team has played since I have been here, especially in stretches," said Toros Head Coach Quin Snyder. "The guys really seem to enjoy playing together. Hopefully we can keep the intensity up for tomorrow night."

The Toros started the game off strong, firing on all cylinders. Toros players Alonzo Gee and Justin Bowen led the way for the Toros 14-2 run to begin the game, combining to score 13 of the first 14 for the Toros.

After a fast-paced second quarter, the Toros took a 57-36 lead into halftime. Gee led all scorers with 22 points at the half.

Despite close scoring throughout the half, the Toros were able to sustain their double digit lead throughout the night.

Gee, the adidas Player of the Game, led the Toros with 30 points and Bowen finished with 21 on the night. Russell Carter and Curtis Jerrells also finished in double figures, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Mustafa Shakur led the 66ers with 17 points. Larry Owens scored 12 and Cecil Brown added 11 more for the 66ers.

Center Byron Mullens, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, finished with 10 points for the 66ers.

The Toros return to play on December 2 against the Tulsa 66ers at 7:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center.
