Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC announced Monday that forward Sebastian Giovinco has been diagnosed with strains in his quadriceps and adductor. He is expected to be out of the line-up for 4 weeks. Midfielder Jay Chapman has been diagnosed with an MCL Tear and will be out of the line-up for 3 weeks. In addition, defender Ashtone Morgan is set to undergo surgery on Friday for a stress fracture in his foot. Morgan is expected to be out of the line-up for 6-8 weeks.
Giovinco's injuries occurred in the second half of Saturday's match against the Montreal Impact. This season, Giovinco has made 29 combined appearances between MLS league play and the Amway Canadian Championship, scoring 17 goals with 13 assists.
Chapman's injury occurred during the first half of last Wednesday's match at Orlando City SC. This season, Chapman has made 19 combined appearances, registering two assists between MLS league play and the Amway Canadian Championship.
Morgan's most recent appearance came as a second half substitute on August 14 against the Houston Dynamo. This season, Morgan has made 9 combined appearances between MLS league play and the Amway Canadian Championship with one assist.
