'Topes and 'Birds Postponed, Doubleheader Set for Tomorrow

July 18, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Albuquerque Isotopes (55-41) and Memphis Redbirds (36-60) have been postponed due to unrelenting rain and thunderstorms throughout the evening. The game will be made up tomorrow, Thursday, July 19 at 4:35 PM as part of a double header that will feature two, seven-inning contests against the Redbirds. Following the completion of the first game, there will be a 30 minute break before first pitch of the second contest. Gates open at 3:30 PM for the twin-bill.

Tickets from Wednesday night's postponed game can be exchanged for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any other Isotopes regular-season home game. Tickets for Thursday night's contest are good for both games.

Thunder shook The Lab late Wednesday afternoon as a heavy storm front rolled through the area. Isotopes staff raced against the clock to roll the tarp over the diamond before rain came pouring down. Around 5:00 PM, the storm front parked itself over Isotopes Park and remained unmoving until the game was forced to be called.

'Topes southpaw Derrick Loop (8-2, 4.97) will square off against 'Birds left-hander Tyler Lyons (1-4, 4.93) in the first game, followed by righty Fernando Nieve (5-6, 6.08) against lefty Nick Greenwood (1-1, 3.99) in the second contest.

The Isotopes eight-game homestand rolls on with the second of two replica jersey giveaways on Friday and the return of Dukes Retro Night on Saturday! Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.abqisotopes.com or www.ticketmaster.com .
