Topeka Goalie Johnson Makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Topeka RoadRunners, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that goaltender Tyler Johnson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Maine in Hockey East. The commitment is for the 2017-18 season.
Johnson, 17, is in his first season of playing hockey in the NAHL with the RoadRunners. The native of Amherst, New York, has appeared in 19 games to date and posted a 13-6-0 record with a 2.24 goals against average and a 91.3% save percentage with two shutouts.
Johnson had a great start to his inaugural season, winning five of his first six starts. He has also played well as of late, winning his last five starts and six of his last seven.
In late September and again in November, Johnson (6'3/185) was listed on the NHL Central Scouting Players to Watch List.
"Tyler has the physical attributes that work well for his position, but what sets him apart is his work ethic and commitment to improving his game every day. Maine is getting not just a solid goaltender, but also a quality citizen," said Topeka head coach Scott Langer.
Prior to playing in the NAHL for Topeka, Johnson played last season for the Compuware 18U team in the HPHL. He also appeared in one game for the Plymouth Whalers in the OHL.
Johnson is the second player thus far from this year's RoadRunners team to make a Division I commitment, joining Carlos Fornaris (RPI).
