TOP OF THE ORDER TOPS CHARLOTTE, 7-2

11 of Daytona's 12 hits came from top four in order

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL - The Daytona Tortugas hit two home runs in their 7-2 win against the Charlotte Stone Crabs Tuesday night at Charlotte Sport Park. The top four in Daytona's order had 11 of the 12 hits, while driving in five of the seven runs.

Daytona got on the board in the first inning against Major League rehabber RHP Tommy Hunter. After leadoff singles from Alfredo Rodriguez and Shed Long, Nick Senzel got Daytona on the board with a ground out to second. Daytona would add another run on a dropped third strike.

Charlotte would tie the game with their only runs in the second inning. After a leadoff double from Brett Sullivan, Ryan Boldt dropped a bunt single in front of home. Chris Okey threw wild to first, allowing a run to score. The Stone Crabs would tie it on a two-out single to center from Jake Fraley, but wouldn't cross home again.

Daytona used homers from Gavin LaValley in the third and Long in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead they would never relinquish. Reydel Medina lead off the sixth inning with his team-leading third triple and scored on a Shane Mardirosian sacrifice fly to left, driving home his first run with Daytona.

Senzel added the final run of the night, and his second RBI, with a base hit to center in the seventh inning for the 7-2 final score.

RHP Jesus Reyes (5-1) allowed one earned run in seven innings, while striking out five and walking none. RHP Jake Ehret and RHP Robert Stock retired all six batters they faced out of Daytona's dugout. RHP Eduar Lopez (3-5) suffered the loss, allowing five runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. He has started Daytona's two wins against Charlotte this year.
