TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce that former Super Bowl Champion head coach, and spokesperson for All Pro Dad, Tony Dungy, will once again speak during Faith and Family Night Friday, April 12, announced team president Derrick Brooks. Dungy will be joined by Brooks and Evangelist RV Brown, founder and President of Outreach to America's Youth, Inc., for a postgame address focusing on faith and family.
"It gives me great pleasure to announce that both of these gentlemen will be with us for Faith and Family Night," said Brooks. "Coach Dungy and RV are men of integrity. I have the utmost respect for the both of them and admire the impact they have made on so many lives."
Dungy was the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts and led them to a Super Bowl XLI victory over the Chicago Bears on February 4, 2007. He was the first African American head coach in the National Football League to complete such a feat. Prior to joining the Colts, Dungy helped turn around the culture of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and became the most successful coach in Buccaneers history.
Before taking the reins in Tampa, he held assistant coaching positions with the University of Minnesota, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Minnesota Vikings. He played in the NFL for three seasons prior to joining the coaching ranks.
Dungy is also involved in various charitable organizations including, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Athletes in Action, Mentors for Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Club, the Prison Crusade Ministry, and All Pro Dad. He also works with Basket of Hope, the Black Coaches Association National Convention, Indiana Black Expo, the United Way of Central Indiana, and the American Diabetes Association. Dungy is a New York Times bestselling author with two books hitting #1; Quiet Strength and Uncommon.
He retired from coaching in 2008 and now serves as an analyst for NBC's Football Night in America. He and his wife, Lauren, are the parents of seven children.
Brown is the founder and President of Outreach to America's Youth, Inc., a group that travels the world sharing the gospel with all people. He shares his message to various venues including churches, schools, retreats and other conferences. In 2003 he was inducted into the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Champions.
He is also an author having written, Breaking The Chain and Step Up To The Plate, Dad! Both are used as tools to help teach, and emphasize the importance of spirituality and the family. It is RV's purpose to help encourage and empower anyone that reads his books.
Brown is certified in training from Community Intervention, Inc. and Morehouse School of Medicine and Drug Abuse in the Community. He and his wife Francis have two children together.
Fans can also take in the sounds of American Idol Season 9 finalist Seth Rollins as he takes the Thunder Alley stage with his band Cities From Ruins. CFR is a local band from Tampa, FL and it performs songs of inspiration and faith. Rollins and Cities From Ruins will hit the stage prior to kickoff for an hour long set from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
