Tomahawks Sweep Kenai River in 5-3

SOLDOTNA, Alaska - A 45-shot performance by the Johnstown Tomahawks led them to a 5-3 victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears Saturday night at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
The Tomahawks scored the game's first tally for the fourth consecutive night when Dalton Hunter connected for his team-leading eighth goal of the season. His goal was distributed by linemates Filips Buncis and Donovan Ott.
The Tomahawks gained a two-goal advantage when Riley Doyon deflected a goal past Brown Bears goalie Bailey Seagraves. Doyon's second goal on the season was assisted by Ott and Daniil Bokun.
Johnstown threw plenty of pucks on net during the first period with 20 total shots on net, which is a season-high.
Second period action started off with an Andy Iehle power play goal for Johnstown at 5:57 of the period. Samuel Solensky registered the assist.
The Tomahawks chipped in another power play goal when Ott fired a wrist shot into the back of the net to give Johnstown a 4-0 lead.
With less than one minute to play in the second, Kenai River got on the board with a power play goal from Aidan Teilborg.
The Brown Bears would draw as close as one goal when they scored two power play markers in the third period from Evan Butcher and Matthew Thielemann.
However, Nick Bruce would solidify the sweep of Kenai River with an empty-goal at 18:54 of the third to set the final at 5-3.
Drew Hotte earned the win by stopping 22 of 25 Brown Bears shots to improve his record to 3-0-1 on the year.
Seagraves, in defeat, stopped 41 of 45 Tomahawks shots on goal while his record diminished to 0-4-0.
Johnstown will have a week off of competition before traveling to Massachusetts to take on the Northeast Generals for a three-game series starting Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m.
