Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

Johnstown, Pa - After a month away from 1st Summit Arena, the Tomahawks returned home to face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights and continued their winning ways vs the Knights, winning, 4-1.

The game remained scoreless until 3:21 of the second period when the Tomahawks', Roman Kraemer scored his fifteenth goal of the season. The goal was unassisted.

Tomahawks then made it 2-0 when Ben Schmidling scored his eleventh goal of the season. The lone assist went to Samuel Solensky at 6:27.

The second period would come to an end with the Tomahawks still holding a 2-0 lead.

In the third period, the Knights broke the Tomahawks shutout with a goal on the power play. Jack Olmstead redirected a puck of his body for the goal, his twentieth of the season. The assists went to Gabe Temple at 8:34.

Johnstown quickly regained their two-goal lead with a goal from Solensky. Joe Kile picked up the assist at 9:29. The goal was Solensky's thirteenth of the year.

With the Knights having a power play late in the period, they pulled the goalie for a two-man advantage, but it was Johnstown that would capitalize. Joe Kile netted the empty netter giving Johnstown the 4-1 lead at 16:48. Solensky picked up the assists, his third point of the night.

This would be enough for the Tomahawks as they picked up the 4-1 win.

Jack Leavy picked up the win in net for Johnstown, allowing only one goal on 32 shots.

The Tomahawks are back in action tomorrow night, once again vs the Knights. It's Guns & Hoses night presented by Firehouse Subs, The Tax Lady and Advance Office Systems. The battle of the badges continues into its sixth season as Police and Firefighters compete to benefit the Special Olympics. The charity game starts at 4:30pm followed by the Tomahawks game at 7pm.
