The Pittsburgh Kids Foundation remains a catalyst for bringing together a diverse coalition of 200 youth workers, serving in churches and youth serving agencies, combining resources to better serve the children and youth of the greater Pittsburgh area. For more than 15 years, the foundation has devoted its time to assisting Haitian orphans and the people of Haiti. Many NHL players have been active in the foundation, including Cooke, Vitale, and Staal, who made a trip there in August 2012.
The Johnstown Tomahawks Foundation (JTF) was created to give back by contributing its unique resources and financial support to charitable organizations that serve the communities of Cambria County and the surrounding areas. Led by a dedicated community Board of Directors and administered by the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies, the JTF works to develop a number of programs and partnerships that target those who need it most.
Following Wednesday's game, the Tomahawks play three games in three days at the War Memorial against Port Huron on Jan. 11, 12, and Sault Ste. Marie on Jan. 13. On Saturday, Jan. 12, the team will present its Kids Day, featuring regional mascots and fun events for kids, and all fans will receive a free team photo.
