Titans Name Hawkeyes All-Time Wide Receiver Head Coach

Cedar Rapids, IA - In one of the biggest moves in franchise history the Cedar Rapids Titans, who will enter their sixth Indoor Football League season in February, have named University of Iowa's all time wide receiver, Marvin McNutt, as the team's third head coach in franchise history. The team and McNutt agreed to terms on a two year contract earlier this week.
McNutt will replace Mark Stoute who has accepted the position of Director of Player Personnel/Assistant Head Coach of the Arena Football League's, Jacksonville Sharks. Over the four years Stoute was with the Titans, he guided the team to a 41-17 record and four straight IFL United Conference Championship appearances. He also helped Cedar Rapids secure the team's first ever home playoff game this past season. "We wish Coach Stoute nothing but the best. We are grateful to him and his entire coaching staff for where they have gotten our program to today. It was an honor to have him in Cedar Rapids the past four seasons", said Titans general manager/co-owner Chris Kokalis.
No stranger to winning, McNutt enters his first season as Titans head coach after spending time at football's highest level, the National Football League. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. After his time with the Eagles, he had stops with the Miami Dolphins before ending his NFL career in 2014 when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers. The Missouri native is the Hawkeyes all-time leader in receiving touchdowns and yardage (single season & career). He finished his career at Iowa with 170 receptions for 2,861 yards and 28 touchdowns. He set single season records in 2011 when he finished with 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns. During that season he was named First Team All Big Ten. "We are extremely excited to have Marvin head our football program. He had a tremendous college and professional career and we look forward to him bringing that success to our organization", said Kokalis.
McNutt is not the first former Hawkeye to become apart of the Titans organization. During the team's inaugural season back in 2012, offensive lineman, Lee Gray spent time with the Titans. In 2015, wide receiver Jordan Cotton and defensive back BJ Lowery helped lead the Titans to a United Conference Championship berth. Lowery signed a rookie contract with the Denver Broncos in January.
In addition to his coaching duties with the Titans, McNutt will also serve as the team's Director of Corporate Partnerships. He will also work with Titans front office members to bring in other former Hawkeyes for appearances throughout the 2017 season. Kokalis and McNutt will work together to assemble the rest of the team's 2017 coaching staff in the coming weeks. Season tickets for the team's sixth season are now on sale.
