YESTERDAY AFTERNOON: Fort Wayne fell to Lansing, 5-2. Jhonatan Pena drove in the only TinCaps runs in the ninth. Jake Nix took the loss (2 R), though 4 of his 5 innings were perfect.
ROSTER MOVES: The Padres have placed infielder Peter Van Gansen on the TinCaps' Disabled List with an ankle injury. The move is retroactive to Monday when Van Gansen sustained the injury during pre-game infield practice... San Diego also has placed outfielder Rod Boykin on the Fort Wayne Disabled List today. Boykin injured his wrist during pre-game hitting on Tuesday.
In turn, the Padres have added Tyler Moore and Nick Vilter to the TinCaps' roster from Extended Spring Training. See more on Pages 4 and 5, respectively.
GETTYS STAYS HOT: Center fielder Michael Gettys had his season-long 8-game hitting streak end on Wednesday, but he did reach base twice with a pair of walks. Over the last 9 games, Gettys is 13-for-30 (.433 average) with 4 runs and 5 RBIs. He's hit 3 triples and a double (.667 slugging), while swiping 4 bases, drawing 4 walks, and being hit by 2 pitches (.528 on-base). On Wednesday, Gettys also recorded his league-leading 10th outfield assist of the season.
PITCHING ON POINT: The TinCaps' 3.02 ERA is second to West Michigan's 3.01 for the lowest in the Eastern Division. Over their last 11 games, Fort Wayne's 5 starters have allowed a total of 10 earned runs in 59 innings. That equates to a 1.53 ERA. (This excludes the spot start Angel Mejia made on May 14.)
