LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps began the second half with a 4-0 win at Bowling Green. The game was called in the top of the seventh inning due to a tornado warning followed by a thunderstorm. Fort Wayne took a 1-0 lead in the third on a solo home run by Jhonatan Peña. In the sixth, Brad Zunica extended the lead with a 3-run shot. On the mound, Thomas Dorminy tossed 6 shutout innings.

HOME IS WHERE THE WINS AIN'T: In the 8 meetings between the TinCaps and Hot Rods this season, the home team has yet to win. This is odd considering that Fort Wayne is 20-11 in home games against opponents other than Bowling Green, and the Hot Rods are 19-12 at home against everyone other than the TinCaps.

TIDWELL TAKES OVER: After singling and walking twice on Thursday, Kodie Tidwell has now reached base in 29 consecutive games dating back to May 13. This is the longest active streak in all of baseball (Single-A, Double-A, Triple-A, and MLB) and the 3rd longest such streak in the MWL this year. (BG's Jake Cronenworth reached in 30 straight to start the season; LaMonte Wade of Cedar Rapids also had a 30-game streak from April 20-May 30.) Tidwell has hit safely in 24 of these games (6 multi-hit efforts), posting a .273 batting average with 17 runs, 7 doubles, a triple, 2 homers, and 10 RBIs. He's walked 19 times, been hit by a pitch, and stolen 5 bases. Over the stretch his on-base percentage is .385 and is slugging .409. At the start of the streak, Tidwell wasn't a regular in the lineup. Across the 29 games, he's played second, third, short, left, right, and DH-ed.

STRANGE, BUT TRUE: Due to the weather circumstances, Thomas Dorminy became the first TinCap to throw a complete game since James Needy on Aug. 29, 2012. (The TinCaps lost that game at home against West Michigan, 1-0.) The last TinCap to throw a complete game shutout was Matt Wisler on July 1, 2012 at Lake County. That game also ended after 6 innings because of rain.) Needy, who was in Double-A and Triple-A for the Padres last year, is currently a free agent. Wisler, a Bryan, Ohio, native, earned a win for the Braves over the Mets last night.

AMONG THE BEST: Austin Allen's .322 average is 7th highest in the MWL... J.C. Cosme's 7 Ws are tied for 3rd... Ty France's 40 walks are 3rd... He's been hit by a league-high 14 walks.

AGAINST LEFTIES: The TinCaps have hit 5 points higher against southpaws this year (.248) than righties (.238). Fort Wayne has 5 left-handed bats in the lineup tonight vs. Michael Velasquez. Austin Allen (.351), Brad Zunica (.281), Kodie Tidwell (.271), and Peter Van Gansen (.240) - all left-handed bats - actually have the 4 best batting averages against lefties this season on the current roster.
