Time Warner Cable to Broadcast 10 Checkers Games Live in 2011-12

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers and Time Warner Cable announced today that, due to popular demand, 10 Checkers home games this season will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable digital channel 520 as part of their three-year partnership, which began in 2010-11.
The games, carried on Time Warner Cable's Special Events Channel, proved to be a popular choice in the first year of broadcast. Special Events Channel 520 is available to all Time Warner Cable digital cable subscribers throughout the Carolinas.
The complete broadcast schedule for the 2011-12 season includes games against nine different opponents and is as follows:
Saturday, Oct. 15 vs. Peoria Rivermen, 7 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 26 vs. Milwaukee Admirals, 7 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 3 vs. Texas Stars, 7 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 15 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins, 3 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 27 vs. Rockford IceHogs, 7 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 12 vs. Norfolk Admirals, 6 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 25 vs. Oklahoma City Barons, 7 p.m.
Saturday, Mar. 10 vs. Chicago Wolves, 7 p.m.
Sunday, Mar. 18 vs. Norfolk Admirals, 3 p.m.
Friday, Apr. 6 vs. Abbotsford Heat, 7 p.m.
Jason Shaya, entering his fifth season as the voice of the Checkers, will lead the television broadcast, while former NHL player and current senior vice president of hockey business operations Derek Wilkinson will lend his expertise as color commentator and analyst.
Opening night for the 2011-12 season is Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. as the Checkers host the Peoria Rivermen. The first 3,500 fans will receive a 3' x 5' house flag, courtesy of Time Warner Cable.
