Timberwolves Reassign Bracey Wright To Florida Flame

FORT MYERS, Fla., January 31 - The Minnesota Timberwolves have reassigned guard Bracey Wright to the Florida Flame of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations, Kevin McHale. The Flame is the Timberwolves D-League affiliate for the 2005-06 season.

Wright was recalled by Minnesota on January 10, 2006 and appeared in two regular season games for the Timberwolves, averaging 3.0 points in 4.0 minutes per contest. Wright posted a season-high five points on 2-5 shooting in six minutes versus the Detroit Pistons on January 24 at the Target Center.

Wright was assigned to Florida on November 4, 2005 after being selected by the Timberwolves in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft (47th overall). The 6-3, rookie started 16 games for the Flame and ranked number three in the D-League in scoring at 21.1 points per contest at the time of his recall. Wright also averaged 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists (17th D-League) while shooting 46 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range (12th D-League) and 77.8 percent from the foul line. The former Indiana Hoosier tallied 20+ points in 10 of 16 games and led Florida in scoring in 12 of 16 contests. Wright delivered a Flame season-high 33 points on December 2, 2005 at Roanoke, hitting on 11 of 17 shots from the field, to post the seventh-highest single-game scoring total in the D-League this season.

Wright averaged 7.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 17.0 minutes per game in starting three games for the Timberwolves' 2005 Minnesota Summer League entry. He registered 5.7 points, 1.0 rebounds and 18.2 minutes per game in six preseason contests this fall. Wright was an early entry candidate for the draft after spending three seasons at Indiana University (2002-03 - 2004-05).

The guard ranks 15th all-time at Indiana with 1,498 career points and is tied for third with 186 career three-point field goals made. As a junior in 2004-05, the native of The Colony, Texas, led the Big 10 Conference in scoring (18.3 ppg), while posting 25 or more points on seven occasions.

The Flame open a five-game homestand this Thursday night, February 2 against Fayetteville (5-17). Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Germain Arena. Following Thursday's contest, Florida squares off against the Arkansas RimRockers on Sunday, January 5 at 3 p.m. and Tuesday, January 7 at 7 p.m. The Flame round out the homestand with back-to-back contests versus the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on Thursday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m. and Friday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Germain Arena box office, by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-4-NBA-TIX, or by logging onto ticketmaster.com.

Florida (16-10) currently sits in first place in the NBA Development League standings with a one-half game lead over Fort Worth (16-11) for the top spot. The Flame will look to return to the win column after dropping three of four games on a recently completed road trip to Fort Worth and Tulsa. Thursday's game can be heard live on Sportsradio 770 ESPN with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m. ET.
