Minnesota Lynx News Release

Minneapolis/St. Paul - The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx announced today that owner Glen Taylor will contribute an additional $9-$12 million toward the Target Center Renovation project. The new contribution will provide supplementary amenities to further enhance the experience for all Timberwolves and Lynx fans.

The funds will be directed towards new seats, railings for the lower bowl seating area, a better and more robust wi-fi platform than originally planned, additional digital signage in the arena bowl and a new skyway off the back side of the arena.

There will be a presentation on the additional enhancements at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, January 17 at the Minneapolis City Council's Community Development & Regulatory Services Committee meeting.

"Our vision for a renovated Target Center was to create a world-class experience while pursuing the sustainable strategy of extending the life of a tremendous community asset. As we progressed in the renovation, it became evident that there were additional needs if we wanted to realize this collective vision of ours. We want to deliver an incredible experience for our fans and everyone who comes to Target Center," said Timberwolves & Lynx Owner Glen Taylor. "These additions will give the building greater technological capabilities, allow fans to enter and exit the building with more ease, and provide a more comfortable experience for fans visiting Target Center. The addition of these amenities will ensure that our fans will return to an amazing arena experience next fall."

"Target Center is a building that the public owns and is a community asset; it's great to see our tenants and partners with the Timberwolves and Lynx organization continuing to make major financial investments in upgrades," said City Council Member Lisa Goodman. "The renovations are clearly going to change the face of the building inside and out."

"The redevelopment at Target Center is proceeding beautifully," said Minneapolis City Council President Barbara Johnson. "This added investment by the Timberwolves and Lynx will make the project even better and will improve pedestrian movement."

These additions, plus the original project improvements, will help accomplish the project's ultimate goal of greatly improving the fan experience for all Target Center events heading into the Timberwolves 2017-18 season.

The additional funding will bring the total Target Center renovation project to between $138 and $141 million. The public contribution remains unchanged.
