Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers Reserves kick off their 2013 MLS Reserve League season Sunday as they visit the Seattle Sounders FC Reserves at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash., at 5 p.m. (Pacific).
The match against the Sounders FC Reserves opens an expanded 14-game season for the Timbers Reserves in 2013. The Portland and Seattle reserve sides have split their all-time MLS Reserve League series 2-2-0, with the Timbers Reserves winning both matchups in 2012.
The Timbers Reserves 2013 schedule includes home-and-away matchups against the reserve sides of five Western Conference clubs - Colorado Rapids, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC - as well as one match against the LA Galaxy Reserves and Chivas USA Reserves.
As part of a new partnership between MLS and United Soccer Leagues, the Timbers Reserves will also play a home-and-away series against USL PRO club VSI Tampa Bay FC. The Timbers Reserves will play host to VSI Tampa Bay FC on April 7, at JELD-WEN Field to open their home slate of MLS Reserve League matches.
Timbers Reserves season tickets and group ticket opportunities are available by contacting the Timbers ticket office at (503) 553-5555 or ticketsales@portlandtimbers.com . Individual-game tickets are $10 and will be available for purchase starting Monday, March 18, at 10 a.m. (Pacific) through the JELD-WEN Field box office or online at www.portlandtimbers.com .
The Reserve League will consist of two divisions, East and West, in 2013, with standings based on points per game.
