Tigers Swept at Hudson Valley

August 25, 2016 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY - The Connecticut Tigers fell 4-0 to Hudson Valley tonight, only grabbing one hit against the best pitching staff in the league.

The only hit for the Tigers came in the first inning when Jacob Robson doubled down the right field line. The Tigers had a few opportunities given to them, drawing five walks in the game. Connecticut's best shot was in the fifth inning. After back-to-back walks, the Tigers could not move the runners over or get them in to break the tie.

The Renegades did so in the bottom of the fifth inning against Gregory Soto. A fly ball to left field that looked like it was going to be hauled in by Jacob Robson, got past him and resulted in a two-out RBI triple off the bat of Garrett Whitley.

The Renegades would add runs in the sixth and seventh innings to lock down their ninth victory in a row and drop their magic number to seven to clinch the McNamara Division.

With Staten Island and Lowell winning tonight, the Tigers are four games back in the Stedler and 2.5 games back in the Wild Card Standings. Tigers are back at it tomorrow at Dodd Stadium for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Vermont Lake Monsters

The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play a 76 game schedule that runs from mid-June through early September. 2016 season tickets, group tickets, mini plans, individual game tickets, and team merchandise are now on sale!
