Tigers Blown out by Spinners

LOWELL, MASS - The Connecticut Tigers fell 11-3 to the Lowell Spinners to drop the series to the Red Sox affiliate. The Spinners recorded 19 hits against Connecticut pitching to claim the series.

Some shoddy defense in the second inning led to a crooked number inning for the Spinners. The Spinners benefited from a throwing error by Josh Lester and Ryan Castellanos failing to cover first base on a ground ball to the right side of the infield. The Spinners were able to collect four hits in the inning and three runs in the inning to take a 3-0 advantage.

The Spinners piled on in the bottom of the four inning, racking up six hits and five runs in the innings. Ryan Castellanos had his worst start of the season giving up 16 hits and allowing 11 runs, nine of them earned.

Bobby Dalbec added his third long ball of the series and fifth of the season, crushing a three-run dinger to left, making it 11-0 Spinners.

The Tigers plated three runs in the top of the eighth, courtesy of a hit, four consecutive walks and a sacrifice fly from Danny Pinero.

The Tigers host the Staten Island Yankees for the first time this season at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow night at Dodd Stadium. Be sure to come out early, the first 1,000 fans get a Dominic Leone Bobblehead, gates open at 6:05 p.m.
